Because meeting new people can be incredible.

I’m fortunate enough to have family spread all over the place. At Christmas time, I was up in the country visiting lots of them, and, of course, had a bloody amazing time. I was making my way back home (via the unpredictable entity that Vline has become) and sat next to someone really got me thinking, and renewed my drive to contribute to the world around me.

The lovely lady I am talking about is Carly Findlay, of Tune Into Radio Carly. Carly is no short of damn amazing, and it is blogs like hers that make me understand how powerful the internet can be.

Carly has something called Ichthyosis, a genetic skin condition that translates to Carly looking different to others around her. For someone that, as she says, “lives with a visible difference,” you’d be hard pressed to find somebody with more confidence. Her attitude to life and the hurdles it throws up, reminds me of the complete and utter inspirational gems that are Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.

Carly is an example of someone who invites others to understand her life, allowing total strangers into her world so they can learn.

I feel very fortunate to have sat next to Carly for that trip back along the Hume Highway. If this blog contributes to the big, wide, blogging universe even half as much as Carly’s, imma gonna be over the moon.
